It is usually said that every individual is important and potential for the society, which is actually very true. But what I'm about to share with you is the importance of every buyer I communicate with, either he/she has any requirement or not. There was a buyer who was visiting China few months before, but the machinery he was looking for was unfortunately not available and then his visa process took very long. But I never lost contact with him, I knew that he has potential and someday it will be repaid. Today he told me about his visit to China and will be visiting us. Here I would like to highlight one more thing, many times it happens that buyers you contact say that we will look forward in future which by the official is taken for granted which is a mistake. Road rolling equipment manufacturers stay in contact with the buyers on regular basis and that is why they get business even from the future buyers as well. This specific buyer of mine was looking for
used construction heavy excavators but was unable to find an original one, but I had faith in him and I kept helping him every now and then. Today, he is my potential buyer and will be doing business with our company.

It is my deal task to connect buyers with my supplier. Since it’s not just my job, it’s an ethical obligation as well. Today I connected my supplier with a Buyer who is from Bangladesh and wanted to buy used construction heavy excavators and specifically wanted a CAT 320 Model.

I immediately concerned my supplier and talked to her about the required product. We then shared the prices along with the pictures with him. Apparently, the buyer thought the price is high but since I believe it’s my duty to think for buyers too. I conducted a comparative analysis of our products prices from other competitor suppliers. It is important for a successful consultant to have the knowledge of both ends i.e. the customers and the suppliers. I even concerned with the road rolling equipment manufacturers to get the idea of new machinery. However, it was proved that the price was fair and market competitive. I kept on emphasizing that the prices we have shared with the buyer were satisfactory and will be beneficial for both the parties. Since, we work through web and B2B portals then trusting someone is a very difficult job but sharing true information even if it might lose you a potential buyer can always be the basis of your credibility.

It was a hot sunny day. I reached office and had a cup of tea just to relax myself. After a while just like I used to check my email, I saw an email from this Russian buyer. He emailed me about his interest in used cranes and told me that he had been in touch with different people from road rolling equipment manufacturers or used construction equipment suppliers. But somehow, he managed to find me and told me about his interest in used cranes.

He actually didn’t contact me out of the blue, there were some efforts involved from my end so all and all it was an aligned process. I previously got some information regarding the potential buyers and emailed the relevant people. Russian buyer was one of them. I told him about our company and that we deal in used construction equipments like used construction heavy excavators, used wheel loaders, used forklifts, used cranes, used road rollers and bulldozers. Then he showed interest in Kato cranes and we discussed the details and specs. He then gave me the details about his visit to China and we received him from his hotel and took him to the factory. There he inspected the machines and we successfully managed to meet him within the given time frame. However, the condition of the machine was not up to the mark according to him so he didn’t buy anything.
From past few months, I have been working for this giant field and during this duration I have noticed some major concerns regarding to the Used Construction Industry. Basically, the demand of used construction equipments has risen during the past six to seven years. There has been a drastic upward shift in the sales of used construction equipments. With the increasing demand, there are hundreds of road rolling equipment manufacturers and buyers involved in the process.

The few major concerns that caught my attention were the price of the machinery, the condition of the machinery, the correct model specs and the pictures shared with the buyers or prospects. These factors play a very vital role in the construction business and if shared truthfully then it can convert this into a successful transaction. Buyers use B2B portals and hence are unable to see the machines live, so trust factor is really an important concern for them. The suppliers should share information in a proper manner with honesty and clear picture of present condition of the machinery.

I realized the essence of this when a buyer from Oman shared with me his experience of getting false pictures and inauthentic information about the machinery. He contacted the company officials in Japan to ask for the authentication of used construction heavy excavators which was proved to be phony.

Working in such a huge industry of Construction Machinery and being a Marketing Consultant for a Construction Equipment Supplier, I have came across different types of buyers from around the globe. The major contribution was from Arab countries like Dubai, Egypt, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. The second most popular region was Middle East and Asia. To be specific, Bangladesh had shown huge interest in the construction machinery business and especially in used equipment. The buyers from Bangladesh are serious and ready to invest without any second thoughts.

But what I faced while being in contact with the buyer and the supplier that payment terms between both of them didn't match. The buyer wanted to pay through LC (Letter of Credit), however the supplier couldn't agree to anything other than TT.

The buyer was interested in used construction heavy excavators of Tadano brand but because of this disagreement on payment terms the deal couldn't get through. The supplier if would have taken this thing seriously, then it would have given him good business. And the beauty of this industry is your one time buyer becomes your life time buyer. So it would have been a healthy business if gotten through.
